5 Things to Do Before the
Last 90 Days of 2026
October is around the corner. 2026 isn't over — you just have one more real chance to close it out strong. 🤎
October is around the corner, and this is the last quarter of 2026. If you're anything like me, you still have goals you haven't fully accomplished this year. So here's a list of five things you and I can do in October to get closer to those goals — before the holiday season fully takes over. 🤎
2026 is not over. These next 90 days are exactly what you need to build new habits, or finally close out a goal you've been chipping away at all year.
Go through every recurring charge — streaming, apps, memberships, subscription boxes. For each one, decide: keep it, cancel it, or downgrade it. What you find here doesn't just save money in October — it becomes real fuel for whatever you're saving toward the rest of the quarter.
Pull out whatever list you made back in January. Be honest about where each goal actually stands. For each one, ask: can I still reach this, or can I at least get really close before December 31st? Ninety days is more time than it feels like.
Q4 is when people spend the most money all year. To avoid going into debt over it, set a firm holiday spending amount now — a real number — and start saving toward it immediately. The earlier you set the number, the less pressure November and December will carry.
Pick the number before you pick the gifts. A firm total keeps every purchase decision simple for the rest of the quarter.
This isn't a green light to buy more. Just move your fall pieces to the front of your closet and your summer pieces to the back. Seeing what you already own front and center naturally reduces the urge to buy something "new" for the season that's already sitting in your closet.
Not everything on this year's list is going to happen — and that's normal. Start noting what you genuinely won't accomplish in 2026, and what's worth carrying forward into 2027. Separating "didn't get to it" from "no longer matters" makes next year's list a lot more honest.
"2026 is not over. These next 90 days are exactly what you need to build new habits, or finally close out a goal you've been working toward all year."
None of these five things require a huge overhaul. They're small, deliberate moves — the kind that add up over 90 days instead of one dramatic reset. That's the whole point of the last quarter. You don't need January to start over. You need October to keep going. 🤎
